Girl From The North Country

Clare Taylor is a third year student at Camberwell College of Art. She frequently likes to tell people that she's from Greenland. This is not true.

Farhad Moshiri and Shirin Aliabadi’s subverted packaging photographs tell a story that is perhaps a little trite but nonetheless a current and powerful topic. In this series, they place an emphasis on the increasing commodification of the Middle Eastern mainstream press, and there is an undercurrent of the satirised dream of the commodity itself catalysing change. Also explored is the pervasiveness of Western-style capitalism into many aspects of every day life, and the definitions we give ourselves based on the products we purchase.
