Michael Johansson’s work is inherently comic, with something innocently humourous about it. His work channels an element of the ridiculous as he removes the original intention of objects and questions what is truly unique. In the above example, Johansson has stacked together suitcases which fit inside each other perfectly, removing their original purpose and turning them into ridiculous, comic objects. By using repetition, giving objects new functions and playing with scale, Johansson turns the ordinary into the extraordinary.
