Erick Swenson creates intricate and elaborate tableaus (or whatever the plural is of “tableaux” - any ideas?), inspired by various things, including film special effects, set design and museum exhibitions. Swenson’s installations stem from a childhood interest in the natural world and dioramas, but his sculptures often feature hybrid animals who are not strictly anatomically correct, rather they are mythical creatures portrayed often in different stages of decay.
