Ingar Krauss’ main concern as a photographer is exploring the world of the youth, frequently by photographing his daughter or her friends. Krauss grew up in East Germany, near the Polish border. When the Berlin Wall fell and Germany became democratic, it experienced a huge rise in wealth, something which Poland did not. Krauss became fascinated by the differences between the comparatively wealthier German children and the still deprived Polish children. This sparked an interest in capturing images of the youth of Eastern Europe, and led him onto other projects in other ex-Communist states such as Russia.
