I got 76% today in my assessment. I’m not sure if it’s for the work itself or the folder or for the presentation, since last year we got three grades but y’know whatevz. It’s okay, not the best I’ve ever done but it’s higher than a pass and that’s all good. I got really good feedback, though. My tutor said it was one of the best he’d seen all day, I...

Signs I am shutting down
At this time of year, assessment time, I develop a fascinating (well, gross) range of symptoms that show the physical effect of stress on my body quite well. First of all, I don’t eat much, and sometimes, when I do eat, I just throw it all up again. It’s the accidental diet. I genuinely just forget to eat, and then after a week of that, my body doesn’t take well to food....

The relationship between photography and sculpture
It would seem that photography has recorded everything. Space, however, has avoided its cyclopean evil eye. - Robert Morris, sculptor, “The Present Tense of Space,” 1978   In a lot of ways, Morris is right - there is a definite change when a three dimensional sculpture is folded down into a two dimensional print. Sculpture is obviously space-occupying - place a sculpture in a gallery space and...

robert-brydie: selchieproductions: I guess one could start with the simple question of what a translation is - personally I prefer the word interpretation as I believe that a work in translation doesn’t fully manage to say what the original is saying in that all humans interpret what they hear, even in their first language. Sculpture (and Clare)
My work is now becoming rapidly more sculptural as time goes by. In this project, I’m taking the somewhat mad step of moving away from photography almost completely - my final pieces (if you can call them that) are not photographic at all, they are small tracing paper origami sculptures. I keep trying to bring the photographic back in, maybe because I feel restrained on my course somewhat....

Updated my portfolio →
thesefewpresidents: Any thoughts? I added a few new shots, but mostly I cut it down to just focusing on portraits and live music shots, because even though I enjoy taking photos of other things, I think those are what I’m best at and want to focus on. Hey Yan, nice portfolio. My one critique is that I think you’ve made too many selections from different shoots, there are loads of images...

Hey BBC,
What’s with this lack of reporting on the increased security in major airports / train stations?!?!! You had a tiny article about how the terror threat was raised to “severe” last night and now this morning you just give me news on stabbings and tube strikes? I don’t want the normal London news, I want the London terror threat news!

Awesome things about last night
Yesterday I went to the Science Museum with Rosie, Lara and Dan. It was science-y good. Then we somehow won SECOND PRIZE in the Antelope pub quiz. I have never, ever done this well in any kind of quiz, and we also won a free £25 tab at the bar. In the movies round, I guessed Jurassic Park off the top of my head and got it right. Single greatest moment of my young life. We went to Smoke Bar, in...

So I totally don't care about The Streets... →
…But I do care about this one line from this article: …Mike Skinner — a.k.a. the Streets, the greatest white British rapper of all time… What? Who the hell wrote this article, and why the hell haven’t they heard of Goldie Lookin’ Chain?!?! Also, Mike Skinner does not rap, he murders. I will testify in court to this effect.
